The development of glass processing has been gradual but impressive and firmly based on the principles of sound engineering management and particularly customer service. This has resulted in a glass processing facility that incorporates some of the most advanced computerised systems and machines together with the individual skills of an expert and dedicated workforce.
The manufacturing of mirrors is a well established tradition of Pearsons’ business, along with the new technical glasses and processes that are emerging, The addition of a toughening plant ensures that Pearsons has ‘total in-house processing control from start to finish’.
Pearsons Glass decorative department is able to offer the customer a full and complete service from idea to delivery. An expertly trained design team regularly creates new and unusual ‘one off’ designs for a multitude of customers with varying requirements, from a small company logo to architectural and commercial masterpieces. The in-house design team can re-create, replicate or work to customer’s own artwork or drawings on glass and mirrors, from simple lettering to intricate designs.

Bevelling
Bevelling is just one of the many services that the Pearsons Glass processing division offers. Grinding a portion off the edge of the glass to form an angle, which is then polished, does it. Light is reflected off the edges with a prism-like flood of colour, to give wonderful effects to mirrors and glass.
Within the factory there is a full range of machinery which can bevel, arrise, polish glass from 3mm to 25mm. We can create edges in either a straight line or curves, of upto 50mm, which are perfect for use as tabletops, counters display cabinets or balustrades.
Pearsons Glass Ltd. are a leading supplier of an extensive range of glass products to architects, shop fitters furniture trade, exhibition designers, national chain stores together with a host of other glass companies within the trade.

Toughening
An in-house toughening plant is a very important part of our work. Most of the glass that passes through the processing division passes through here. We can cater from small (100mm x 100mm) to the large (2150mm x 1080mm) pieces of 4mm to 19mm thickness and even toughen customers own glasses.
The process puts the glass under "stress" which not only makes it stronger but means that it will break "safely" under impact (like a bus shelter) into small pieces of glass which are far less likely to deeply cut any passer-by. Pearsons Glass toughening process conforms to BS6206 class A safety impact tests. This provides an economical safety solution for balconies, balustrades, shower curtains, wall cladding, shelving, table-tops, counters display cabinets and doors.

Sandblasting
Sand is used to "blast" a decoration into the surface of the glass, this can be done in layers to get different levels and "deep carving" into the glass surface. Designs or words can be carved, by sandblasting the front or the rear of the glass, creating striking effects when light shines through. This makes it perfect for decorative mirrors, partitions, window and door panels.

UV Bonding
Pearsons Glass can bond and fuse many glasses. UV bonding leaves an invisible join that can be stronger than the glass itself. It is done by clamping 2 or more pieces of glass together, then allowing a glue to “seep” between the join, and finally curing with a strong UV light.

Laminated
Laminated glass consists of two layers of glass between which is a "cold pour" resin.
The advantages of this mean:- Safety for people
- Security
- Acoustic insulation
- Protection against UV rays
This makes it perfect for internal and external doors, bus shelters, partitioning and wall cladding. This is now available in a huge range of colours and thicknesses.
